Taking Time to Transform

Updated: Jul 4, 2020

Like many businesses during this COVID time I had to shut down for several months. Honestly, I welcomed the down time. Even though I truly love my job, it was nice to have a break from the normal responsibilities. I was also very aware that not everyone had this luxury. A lot of people were still out working in their jobs at even more stressful levels. This was a rare and unexpected opportunity. What was I going to do with it?

As the days progressed, I found myself reevaluating my life. My goals and dreams. My belief systems and expectation of others. What did I want for my business? What did I want the next thirty years of my life to look like? I cherished the freedom I had to focus my attention on things that I chose to. Things that were fun, interesting, challenging, creative, peaceful, beautiful. I spent large amounts of time in my garden. It was a truly happy time.

As the days turned into weeks, I came to feel that I was living my best life. The thought of going back to the way it had been before the shutdown was not an option. I don’t mean that I wanted to stay at home and have no obligations the rest of my life. It was a shift in attitude and perspective.

I Changed

I have come to believe that we get more of whatever we give our attention to. That our lives reflect and are evidence of the essence of what we are focusing on. And, that our emotions are the indicator of what direction we are moving in. This is incredibly empowering to me. As this thought has gained momentum over the years it has brought me to a tipping point. I have practiced this enough now that I am keenly aware of my emotions throughout the day. They are like a compass and my thoughts are like the rudder of a ship that I can now choose to steer into better waters. I have proved this to myself so much now that I cannot go back to the person I was before. It is the difference between living in lack and fear verses feeling alive, powerful, expectant, and joyful.

Moving Forward

I know that I can bring the energy of the wellbeing I felt during those months into whatever endeavor I undertake. The quintessence of joy, fun, appreciation, freedom, clarity, power, excitement, peace is all available to me at every moment of every day. I know how to do it, and I’m getting better at it all the time.

I started my own organizing business three years ago. It was a joy to do something I loved, was good at, and truly changed people’s lives. That has not changed. What has changed is a deeper understanding and appreciation for what I bring to the table AND what my clients bring. I have a unique voice and I trust that those who need what I have to offer will come. And we will co-create something wonderful together. I’m not sure it gets any better than that!

So, what does that mean for Bee and Peacock? My mission is to impact, empower, and inspire. To achieve this mission I’m going to follow the path of things that are fun and satisfying and bring me joy. I have spent the last several months reenvisioning my company and what it has the potential of accomplishing both for me and others. I’ve got a lot to say about organizing and how it transforms us and it's time to start saying it!
